The Stingrays Swim Team is one of 17 teams competing in the SSASJ. The league is divided into three divisions. This year we are in the National Division.
Practices & Equipment: Every practice is important and swimmers are encouraged to attend all practice sessions. Practices are held as scheduled regardless of the temperature or weather unless you are notified otherwise or if there is lightening (the pool is heated). Suggested equipment for all practices includes: snug-fitting goggles, swim cap (mandatory for any swimmer with chin length hair or longer), towels and a water bottle. It is also helpful to bring a sweatshirt and sweatpants, especially during those early season practices. Some swimmers prefer to have their own set of flippers as well. Mark all equipment with your name or initials. Many personal items are misplaced at the pool! Check the lost and found regularly.
Team Suits: Team suits must be worn at all meets. We wil have the same suit this year as last year. The team suit and caps can be purchased at Danzeisen & Quigley (856-424-5969). D&Q will be at the club during time trials.
Ribbons, Speeding Tickets & Awards Banquet: Ribbons are given out to swimmers placing first through 6th for both official & unofficial individual events. Speeding tickets are presented to any swimmer who has improved his/her time in a particular event by at least a quarter of a second. Swimmers must compete in 2 out of 5 swim meets to be recognized at the awards banquet.
Volunteers: The swim team runs on the power of volunteers!
One swim team parent and/or family member (over 18 yrs.) is required to work at every swim meet. Jobs will be posted on the team bulletin board. Parents are also asked to contribute a food/beverage item which will be sold at the concession stand during our home meets. A concession contribution list will also be posted the team bulletin board. We desperately need parents to become certified as Stroke and Turn Officials. Please email Marie King if interested (kearsty3@comcast.net).
Team Communication: We will use the team bulletin board, mailboxes, team website and email as our main methods of communication. Please check the bulletin board and mailboxes after each practice and make sure we have your correct email address!
